About me
Prof Daphney Mawila is an academic and researcher affiliated with the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her work is situated within the field of educational psychology, with a particular focus on the psychosocial wellbeing, mental health, and resilience of learners with diverse educational needs. She has a strong interest in contextually grounded approaches that draw on African philosophies such as ubuntu to understand and support learner development.Her research explores the lived experiences of marginalised learners, including those with disabilities, with the aim of informing inclusive practices in schools and communities. Through her scholarly work, she contributes to advancing equitable and responsive education systems that promote belonging, dignity, and holistic development.
